At Endress+Hauser, progress happens by working together. As the global leader in measurement instrumentation, with over 18,000 employees, we shape the future in the field of process automation. Whether developing and realizing new technology as a team, collaborating to build instrumentation, or strengthening vital relationships with countless global industries, we work to create trusted relationships that help everyone thrive. As a family-owned company, we look beyond short-term moves and work to create a vision that is forward-thinking for our people, our clients, and the world at large.
We are looking for a Senior Software Architect to join Endress+Hauser Digital Solutions and strengthen the long-term evolution of the Netilion ecosystem. Endress+Hauser Digital Solutions is our Product Center for the Industrial Internet of Things—where 200 innovators collaborate in 12 agile squads, backed by over 200 IIoT patents and an ISO 27001-certified commitment to security—to deliver cutting-edge hardware, software, and cloud services that unlock the full potential of process-industry data.
What is the role about?
The Senior Software Architect is responsible for translating product requirements and the technology vision into a coherent, scalable and sustainable architecture across the entire Netilion ecosystem, including Cloud, Edge, Connectivity and Hybrid environments. The role ensures these elements work together as one integrated platform. The Chief Architect owns architectural integrity, technical governance and implementation guidance for our IIoT-platform Netilion and advises others on architectural implications, risks and trade-offs.
Which tasks will you perform?
You will:
- Own and govern the target architecture of the Netilion ecosystem across Cloud, Edge, Connectivity and Hybrid environments.
- Translate product requirements, business needs and technology strategy into architectural principles, standards and implementation guidance.
- Lead architecture governance, including the Netilion Architecture Board, and drive major cross-team and cross-product architecture decisions.
- Ensure the platform remains scalable, secure, reliable, maintainable and globally operational as it evolves.
- Define and promote architecture standards, integration patterns, API guidelines and technical best practices across the platform.
- Identify and manage architectural risks, technical debt and strategic technology trade-offs to support long-term platform sustainability.
- Mentor architects, technical leaders and engineering teams while fostering architectural excellence and consistency across the organization.
What do we expect from you?
You:
- Bring extensive experience as a Software Architect, Platform Architect, Enterprise Architect, Principal Engineer or in a comparable technical leadership role.
- Have deep expertise in large-scale Cloud, Edge and Hybrid platform architectures, including distributed systems, connectivity, data architectures, identity management, observability and security-by-design.
- Have proven experience defining architecture standards, governance processes and technical guardrails across multiple products and engineering teams.
- Can evaluate and balance architectural trade-offs related to scalability, reliability, security, maintainability, operational excellence and long-term platform evolution.
- Understand DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles and apply them to architect highly available and resilient platforms.
- Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to engineers, architects, product stakeholders and senior management.
- Combine strategic thinking and strong analytical skills with a pragmatic, results-oriented approach to decision-making.
- Excel at mentoring and influencing technical leaders and teams, fostering architectural excellence without relying on formal authority.
What can you expect from us?
- A dynamic and innovative work environment at the forefront of digital transformation.
- Opportunities and training for professional growth and career development.
- A flexible and family-friendly work culture that supports work-life balance.
- Competitive salary and benefits package, including health and wellness programs.
- The security and prospects of an international, family-owned company that supports sustainability and diversity and has a long-term vision.
