About the Role
As a (Senior) Underwriter Property, you'll be a key contributor to our Swiss market strategy — assessing complex risks, crafting tailored solutions, and developing lasting relationships with brokers and clients. This is a role where your underwriting expertise and market knowledge will directly shape our portfolio and business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and underwrite complex property risks for large and medium-sized corporate clients in the Swiss market
- Develop and execute strategic initiatives to expand our property portfolio and strengthen our market presence
- Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients to drive new business opportunities
- Analyse risk exposures and create tailored insurance solutions that meet client needs while ensuring profitability
- Negotiate terms and conditions with brokers and clients to secure well-founded outcomes
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design comprehensive insurance programmes Identify cross-selling opportunities across different lines of business
- Monitor market trends and competitor activities to inform strategic decisions
- Support and mentor junior team members, contributing to the team's overall success
- Drive continuous improvement in product development and underwriting approaches
About the Team
You'll be joining the Property Switzerland team of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, responsible for the direct commercial property business originating in Switzerland. The team focuses on delivering tailored insurance solutions to corporate clients while driving portfolio growth and maintaining strong market relationships.
About You
You're a confident underwriter with strong technical foundations and a proven ability to build and manage profitable portfolios. You combine commercial awareness with sound underwriting judgement, and you're equally comfortable analysing a complex risk as you are sitting across the table from a broker. You take ownership of your work and bring a collaborative approach to everything you do.
We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in commercial property underwriting, with a focus on medium to large corporate clients
- Fluency in both German and English (written and verbal)
- Technical underwriting skills with the ability to assess and analyse complex risks
- A track record in business development and portfolio growth
- Solid knowledge of the Swiss insurance market, including local business practices and established broker relationships
These are additional nice to haves:
- Experience with international property insurance programmes and captive placements
- French language skills
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Insurance or a related field
- Professional insurance qualifications (e.g. CII or equivalent)
For Switzerland, the base salary range for the Underwriter Property position is between 100 000 CHF and 150 000 CHF for a full-time role. The base salary range for the Senior Underwriter Property position is between 136 000 CHF and 204 000 CHF for a full-time role.

In addition to your base salary, Swiss Re offers an attractive performance-based variable compensation component, designed to recognise your achievements. Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week.
