Global Trainee Program - Outperformer Software Track (m/f/x)

Construction is one of the world's largest industries, and one of its least digitized. That is changing fast. Hilti is at the centre of that shift, with a growing portfolio of software products that connect jobsites, offices, teams, and tools across the entire construction lifecycle. We are looking for the people who will run that business in ten years.

The Software Track of Hilti's Outperformer Program is a two-year accelerated leadership traineeship built for rare profiles: technically sharp, commercially minded, internationally mobile, and genuinely curious about how software creates value in the physical world. This is not a rotation program where you shadow senior leaders. From day one, you carry real responsibility.

What You'll do

The Software Track is designed to build the next generation of software business leaders at Hilti – Business Owners, Business Directors, Segment Managers and ultimately Senior Management Team members. If you want a structured path to running a business, this program is built for that outcome.

The program places you inside one of two business units:

Construction Software: Home to Fieldwire (Field Software for project and workforce management), ON!Track (asset management), and 4PS (construction business management). You will work directly with customers, product teams, and business leadership across Europe and beyond.

Fastening & Protection: Where design engineering software including the PROFIS Engineering Suite is developed and brought to market across a global customer base of structural engineers and designers.


Year 1: Customer and market immersion

You begin with a 12-month assignment in a customer-facing or product marketing role depending on your track. This is intentional. Understanding why customers buy, where they struggle, and what makes a software product succeed in the market is the foundation for everything that follows. Our best product leaders and business directors started here.

Year 2: Three rotations across product and business

You rotate through three assignments of 3–6 months each - across product management, engineering, strategy, and international projects. Rotations are tailored to your track and shaped around your development, not a fixed curriculum.

You will have a dedicated senior mentor from the start, direct exposure to executive leadership, and a peer cohort of Global Trainees across all Hilti business tracks globally.

What You’ll Bring

You are close to graduating or have recently completed a Master's degree - your degree is likely to be in construction management, civil engineering, or mechanical engineering with a focus on construction, but we will consider Computer Science, or Business with Software elements and an affinity with construction. What matters more than your degree subject is the combination of traits below. All are required:

• Global mobility - you are willing and able to relocate internationally, multiple times. A global thinker who is keen for diverse cultural experiences.
• Digital and AI orientation - you think natively in digital workflows, comfortable with software tools, and know the power and potential of AI.
• Language - you are fluent in English and/or German, Dutch, French, Spanish or Italian. 
• Commercial instinct - you are drawn to how businesses grow, how customers make decisions, and how products create.
• Low ego, high drive - you take the work seriously and yourself lightly. You seek feedback, move fast, and are energised by ambiguity rather than unsettled by it.
• You are at the start of your career and have maximum three years of junior work experience.

The experience concludes with a 5-day on-campus summit to deepen insights and to foster business and leadership skills.
