Job Description

To support this mission, Syngenta’s Hiring Team is seeking a Onsite, Team Leader Process Technology New AI (m/f/d) in Münchwilen, Schweiz.
Role purpose:
The role involves leading a team of 1-3 lab technicians in a chemistry lab while being responsible for developing and scaling-up chemical reactions towards manufacturing, including preparation and support of pilot campaigns. The position requires maintaining comprehensive process know-how for all assigned chemical steps. It also demands digital curiosity and confidence, working at the interface of chemistry, data and technology.
Accountabilities:
- Ensuring the required HSE standards and good laboratory practices are applied/respected.
- Overseeing and defining the experimental program to deliver safe and sustainable chemical processes that are fit for the current development lifecycle stage under guidance of the project lead.
- Designing lab experiments and pilot campaigns to generate process understanding and know-how
- Maintaining documentation to capture lab results and project requirements as defined by guidance.
- Supporting process know-how transfers in agreement with the project lead.
- Ensuring close collaboration with project stakeholders.
- Supporting the department in specialist roles.
- Preparing inputs for cost estimates.
- Proposing, supporting, and implementing improvement projects.
- Ensuring efficient use of provided resources.
Qualifications
- PhD in organic chemistry or chemical engineering, typically with a Post Doc. (or equivalent experience)
- Practical experience in organic chemistry.
- Fluent English. German and French advantageous.
- Good communication skills coupled with the ability to see trends and simplify complex information.
- Track record in working within project timelines in a dynamic environment.
- Experience in the fields of data science, statistics, modelling, automation or process analytical techniques or in collaborating with experts in these fields.
- Basic knowledge of Python, MATLAB, or R or a willingness to learn, is advantageous.
