Join us as a Innovation Engineer – Data Center Cooling and play a key role in shaping next-generation cooling solutions for a rapidly growing market. In this position, you will drive front-end innovation and develop scalable, manufacturable concepts that contribute to a product portfolio. You will work on cutting-edge technologies such as manifolds, cold plates, and advanced joining solutions while influencing critical early-stage decisions. With a high degree of autonomy and strategic scope, you will collaborate closely with Product Management, R&D, and customers. Innovation Engineer – Data Center Cooling (m/f/d)
Your tasks:
- Take end-to-end technical ownership from idea generation through concept development, prototyping, feasibility validation, and manufacturability - especially for polymer-based components
- Serve as the key front-end technical interface between Product Management, R&D, and customers
- Translate market and customer needs into robust technical concepts and support the definition of target product profiles
- Prepare structured front-end deliverables and support specification development for smooth handover to the R&D teams
- Perform engineering analyses such as pressure-loss calculations, thermal assessments, and basic structural evaluations
- Analyze system layouts and isometries to support dimensioning, integration, and overall system design
- Build and expand application know-how to assess and unlock new business opportunities
- Collaborate closely with Product, Portfolio Management, and customers to shape innovative solutions
Your profile:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Materials, Plastics Engineering or similar)
- 6 - 9 years of experience, including at least 2 years in data center cooling
- Strong expertise in Direct Liquid Cooling, fluid dynamics, pressure-loss calculations, and basic thermal system design
- Ability to assess structural integrity of piping and plastic components and translate concepts into robust designs
- Strong ownership, hands-on problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and communicate effectively across stakeholders
- Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., Siemens NX) with experience in prototyping and plastics engineering
- Fluent in English (German is a plus)
