Job Purpose
- The position plays a key role in driving technological and operational advancements for the Straumann Group. The role is responsible for manufacturing prototypes, designing, developing, and continuously improving cutting tools and their manufacturing processes (machine technologies and machining).
- This position involves close collaboration with machine and tooling manufacturers, as well with development and design transfer teams, to identify and implement high-performance solutions.
Your Role
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
Cutting Tools Design and Manufacturing
- Elaborate CNC programs, set up grinding machines and produce cutting tools prototypes.
- Design (geometry) cutting tools to meet the requirements for the development of new products or change of existing portfolio.
- Test prototypes, identify improvements and apply them to new prototyping loops.
Continuous Improvement and Performance
- Identify potential improvements in the products, to optimize their efficiency and reliability, based on customer feedback.
- Optimize manufacturing tools to ensure consistent production quality, extend tool lifespan, or reduce costs.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement actions to optimize products functionality and production process for cutting tools, using feedback and product performance analysis in collaboration with different teams.
Requirements needed
Education
- Vocational Education in Polymechanic (EFZ), or technical or scientific degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Experience
- Strong know how in CNC grinding processes: operation, machine setup and programming.
- Solid experience in cutting tools (e.g. drills), from the design and functionality perspectives, as well as from a manufacturing point of view.
- Solid experience in the field of mechanics, preferably in the medical devices sector.
- Experience in an industrial environment in, production, mechanical engineering or related technical field.
- In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes in regulated industrial environments.
