Mission

NeuroNA Chair for Epigenomics of Neurodevelopmental Disorders, part of SV School at EPFL, Campus Biotech, Geneva, Switzerland, is looking for a  Molecular Biology & Cell Culture Technician (100%) to support the team in their scientific research.

Are you passionate about hands-on experimental biology and excited to work at the forefront of neuroscience and epigenetics?

We are looking for a highly motivated Molecular Biology & Cell Culture Technician to join our growing team at the NeuroNA Chair for Epigenomics of Neurodevelopmental Disorders, based at Campus Biotech in Geneva.

Our lab investigates how epigenetic mechanisms shape human brain development and contribute to neurodevelopmental disorders, using cutting-edge approaches including human stem cells, brain organoids, and single-cell genomics.

This is a unique opportunity to join a young, dynamic, and international team, where you will play a key role in daily lab operations and experimental work, with strong opportunities for growth.

Main duties and responsibilities

You will be deeply involved in practical laboratory work and teaching young scientists, supporting and driving research across multiple areas:

Molecular Biology & Cell Culture

  • Cloning and generation of viral vectors
  • Virus production and mammalian cell culture
  • Management of lab inventories (cell lines, plasmids, antibodies, reagents)

Organoid Research & Functional Characterization

  • Regular generation and maintenance of human brain organoids
  • Engineering of transgenic iPSC lines and organoids
  • Molecular characterization using:
    • Immunohistochemistry
    • Western blotting
    • qPCR
    • Imaging
    • Single-cell and bulk NGS technologies

Next-Generation Sequencing

  • Preparation of sequencing libraries (bulk & single-cell; genomics & transcriptomics)
  • Tracking and organization of sequencing libraries and reagents

Histology & Microscopy

  • Cryosectioning using a cryostat
  • Immunostaining and slide preparation
  • Imaging using advanced microscopy platforms (e.g., BIOP slide scanners)

Lab Management & Operations

  • Preparation of stock solutions
  • Purchasing and inventory management
  • Invoice verification and supplier coordination
  • Chemical waste management
  • Safety responsibilities (COSEC, Level 2 BSO)
Profile

Your Profile

  • CFC Laboratory technician in biology or BSc or Msc in biology
  • Training in molecular biology, cell biology, or a related field
  • Hands-on experience with cell culture and molecular biology techniques
  • You enjoy practical lab work and are comfortable working at the bench on a daily basis
  • Experience with organoids, NGS, or histology is a plus
  • Well-organized, reliable, and proactive
  • Team-oriented with a positive, can-do attitude
